cpac2010

What is CPAC? CPAC is the Conservative Political Action Conference that FUS College Republicans attend every year. CPAC features speeches from the top conservative leaders, and booths from the top conservative organizations. Past speakers include George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, John McCain, Sam Brownback, Newt Gingrich, Sean Hannity, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Mitch McConnell, Ron Paul, Michael Steele, the late Tony Snow, Ann Coulter, and many more.

Be sure to visit the CPAC 2010 Official Website for more information!

Who will be speaking this year? Sarah Palin is the only confirmed speaker for 2009, but you can expect nearly every conservative leader to be there. CPAC is a major source of grassroots support for conservatives eyeing a presidential run. Anyone considering a run in 2012 will be speaking.

Influential conservative groups such as the Susan B. Anthony List/Team Sarah, the NRA, American Solutions, Young Americans Foundation, Vets for Freedom, and ISI will have booths set up. These are just a few of the array of organizations in attendance.

There will also be book signings from influential conservative authors.

How do I register? Go to the Official CPAC 2010 Website Registration Page and register as a student. Once you are registered, you will receive a confirmation email. Be sure to forward this to fuscollegerepublicans@gmail.com so that we know who will be attending.

Where is CPAC? CPAC is held in Washington, DC at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel

When is CPAC? CPAC is held from Thursday, February 18th to Saturday, February 20th. College Republicans usually leave after Thursday classes, though students may leave Wednesday or Friday if they can round up a group.

Where do we stay? We stay at the Valentine Family’s home in Alexandria, VA (free of charge).

How much is CPAC? CPAC is $25 for students. Students attending are also required to pay their driver’s for gas, which should be around $20. Metro farecards will be around $6/day.  Students should also expect to spend about $50 on food. The total cost for registration and everything else is usually around $100. If you wish to do any sightseeing or anything else, be sure to check whether it is going to cost money. Plan ahead!

What should I bring? The dress code for CPAC is business attire, so be sure to pack accordingly. Be sure to bring a blanket, a pillow, a towel, and any toiletries you wish to have at the Valentine’s house. Bring some warm, comfortable clothes as well if you wish to go out after CPAC.

Do we do anything else the weekend of CPAC? Attendees are free to do what they wish in their spare time. We will provide everyone with a map of the DC Metro, as most sights and places of interest are accessible from it. If you wish to go somewhere not accessible by Metro, make sure to arrange a ride with a CR who is driving. The Valentine Family is generous in letting us stay at their house, so do not rely on them for rides. Make sure to go places in groups, and always exchange cell phone numbers!

When will we arrive back on campus? Groups usually leave Sunday after morning mass. It is up to your driver whether they wish to stay in the DC area for lunch or just stop somewhere on the way back. Do not bully your driver!
